Life Through My Eyes - Timorese Young People's Photo Exhibition

In 2008 Ba Futuru had a photographer in residence Rose Magno, who undertook two months of photographic experimentation with a group of twenty Timorese children and youth (see photos above), many of whom have never held a camera before. Using only disposable cameras these children and youth created engaging photographs that provide a window into their lives.

Check out http://transformationalartsforpeace.blogspot.com/ for more information on this project.

Themes such as conflict transformation, family, friends and favorite places are expressed in the photographs which were be displayed in an exhibition “Life Through My Eyes” which opened on the 8th of October, 2008. This exhibition was sponsored by the European Commission as part of the soft opening of the Casa Europa, formerly the Uma Fukun, near the Palacio do Governo in Dili, Timor-Leste. The young budding-artists were present to celebrate their first public showing of their work in the spectacular, newly renovated historic building, which will now act as the European Commission’s local office.
